Host families and helpers

Accompany aspiring oboists and bassoonists on their way to international renown and lasting success. Support a world-class music competition locally. Facilitate cultural exchange between exciting people. And take part yourself. Actively support a wonderful idea. Promote and support young talent.

You can do this and much more as a host family or volunteer for «The Muri Competition». Put yourself at the service of young artists from April 9 to 19, 2026. Share your time, your space and your joie de vivre with them. Offer them a meeting place for encounters. Inspire them. And be inspired by them. Make the possible possible. Because «music connects».

The inspiring atmosphere of The Muri Competition encouraged me to take artistic risks and perform with great personal expressiveness. Winning the Heinz Holliger Special Prize for my interpretation of Klaus-Ur was particularly meaningful for me, as it further fueled my passion for contemporary music and strengthened my commitment to composing my own works.

Jakob Fliedl

The Muri Competition was an important step in my career and marked the transition from my studies to professional life. I will never forget how much it pushed me forward, both through the enormous amount of work it required and through meeting so many great musicians, and how much it helped me to develop my own interpretation and playing style. In a word, he set me free.

Participating in The Muri Competition pushed me beyond my limits and the preparations helped me improve my time management skills. As a finalist, I was able to spend more time with other participants and make friends, as well as bond with my lovely host family - an experience I truly cherish.

Hana Hasegawa

The Muri Competition 2016 gave me the rare fortune of meeting colleagues who continue to inspire me to this day. Being surrounded by such remarkable musicians showed me how much you can learn by simply listening and connecting.
